According to The Mirror, talks are planned to hand Haaland a pay rise this season – despite already being on £375,000 a week. The report adds midfield talisman Rodri will also be offered a 'double-your-money' wage increase, to bring the 28-year-old to a similar amount to what the Norwegian international earns currently.

While Haaland and Spain international Rodri are big earners currently and still have three years left on their current deals, these salary increases may be shrewd ways of keeping these two vital players at City for a longer period. They have been key to their success over recent seasons and with Real Madrid and Saudi Pro League teams interested in the pair, this could fend off a potential Etihad exit.

DID YOU KNOW?

This comes a month on from Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal admitting he wants Rodri to join him at Los Blancos.

He said: "Yes, without a doubt, I tell him every day: 'Leave Manchester, there is no sun, come to Madrid because we need you, and you are from here in Madrid'.

"He says: 'Yes, well, I have a contract, there are no clauses here.' It gives me pause, it gives me delay, but it would be the signing, without a doubt. Being Spanish, in Madrid… I think it would fit perfectly."
